The View From My Kitchen Window

Before I drove the kids to school and myself to work yesterday, I wrote myself a note about Mama Kat’s vlog prompt.

Favorite View
-Show thermomter
-Show me – wearing hat + parka
-Go Outside

Ed and I (almost) bought our house because of our backyard view. Wide, green and spacious, we loved the backyard from the moment we saw it. Of course, it helped that the house has three bedrooms, an attached garage and a basement.

But to vlog about my favorite view in the winter? When the temperature has dropped down farther than it’s been for months? January really isn’t the best time to show you my favorite view.

Not only that, but while I was at work I somehow forgot that the prompt was about a VIEW. I pulled into our driveway and started talking all about my favorite PLACE. After all that planning and note taking! Watch the video to see why I started recording my vlog in my driveway:

Here’s how my patio looks when it’s actually warm outside:

What’s your favorite view?

  1. Thanks for giving me a glimpse into your life, Ginny. I guess I shouldn't be complaining too much about the weather here when it gets down in the mid 30s at night, huh? 🙂 We have a partial view of the Golden Gate Bridge from our front windows in the Oakland hills. On a clear day, which is rarer than you might think (San Francisco is known for its fog), it is easily my favorite view. Someday I'd like to build a rooftop deck, but probably not gonna happen. . . 🙂

  2. Love it! Beautiful yard!

My favorite view is a place I haven't been to in awhile, actually. It's at the top of a hill overlooking an apple orchard, valley and some farm land. Gorgeous, espcially in the fall! I used to walk there all the time as a teen. My other favorite view, though, has got to be when all my kiddos are playing together or when we're all spending time together. 🙂 I know that's not a place, but it is a view I love! 🙂 As to a second favorite place view, probably my parents' camp. There's some gorgeous woods there, especially in the fall.

Take care, and have a great rest of your week, Ginny Marie! 🙂 Oh, and our temps are about the same, with wind chills in the negatives! 🙁 Looking forward to spring!!

  3. I love willow trees. I bet it's spectacular in the summer!

I also shared one of my favorite views and started from the car. If it were warmer, I would have gone by the ocean. (I live in Maine.) Luckily, it was in the teens when I shot the video yesterday by the Kennebec River. Today the high so far is 4.

  4. Your yard is absolutely gorgeous! I love the video — thanks for inviting us into your home 🙂

My favorite view is out our living room windows. There's a grade school directly across the street and I love watching the kids in their brightly colored clothes playing during recess. I hope that sound creepy! They just look happy and free from adult worries.

  5. Nine degrees, if you hadn't shared that I never would have guessed it. I guess I expected to see snow or something. Your backyard looks wonderful. That willow tree looks like it would be really inviting to read a book or take a nap under it.

  6. I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed hearing your voice and seeing your favorite spot! (My kids loved it, too!) I'd have to say the kitchen is how I'm looking at our back yard right now — way too cold and dreary for me out there!
