Ultimate Blog Party 2012

Ultimate Blog Party 2012

It’s that time of year again! This is the third year I’ve participated in the Ultimate Blog Party, hosted by Janice and Susan at 5 Minutes for Mom!

I’m Ginny Marie, and I’ve been blogging for almost (gasp!) four years! It’s been a blast–I’ve “met” so many other wonderful people online through my blogging!

I don’t exactly fit into a niche; as a matter of fact, Lemon Drop Pie is the definition of a “personal blog”. I write about my kids and my husband; my quilting (I’m a beginner!) and other projects; my thoughts and ideas. I’m also a breast cancer survivor of almost 16 years now. My husband and I started a family 7 years after my diagnosis; I’m so blessed to be a mom!

Finish Line at the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer

I would love to get to know even more bloggers! A secret goal of mine (not so secret any more, now is it?) is to get at least 100 comments on a single blog post! Will you help me? Pretty please with a cherry on top?

Just leave a comment below telling me about yourself, and of course, leave a link to your blog! If you’re one of my regular readers, try to tell me something new about yourself! During this week, I promise I’ll pay you a return visit!

I’m looking forward to UBP12!

  1. Hi Ginny! Trying to get you to reach 100 comments! I hope you have a great weekend! We'll be celebrating Abby's 3rd birthday… time flies!

  2. Something new about me???

Hmm, yesterday I was at a writing conference and I met the following authors:

Joanne Fluke (author of the Hannah Swensen cozy mysteries–I've read at least three of them)
Melissa de la Cruz (author of the YA Blue Blood series–several sit on my bookshelf at school)

Going back today! Wonder who else I'll meet!

      1. I hope this counts as another comment toward your 100.

On Friday, at the writing conference, I met a lot of literary agents:

        1) I met the awesome Kristen Nelson (http://pubrants.blogspot.com/) and told her that I love her blog.

        2) I met the agent (Nicole Resciniti) who recently sold manuscripts for my writing friend Mary (pen name Kate SeRine- -http://www.kateserine.com). Mary/Kate's debut novel comes out this fall!

        3) The awesome agent Nicole sent me over to meet her agent friend Louise Fury because she believed Louise would be interested in my YA supernatural book. And sure enough Louise requested the full manuscript!

        4) And finally . . . I met Joanna MacKenzie, a local agent here in Chicago, who said she'd also love to look at my YA supernatural.

So, yeah, I guess you could say it was a pretty good day. 🙂

  5. HI Ginny! Nice to meet you. Like you I don't have a niche – just randomly blog about whatever which 99% includes my kids. I am a full time working mommy to 5 kids age range – 22, 20, 15, 5 and 3. Four girls and one boy! My husband and son are totally the minority.

  7. It's so awesome to hear about a breast cancer survivor who went on to have a family. YAY!!!!

Here from UBP. I wish you luck on your quest for 100 comments – that's just a pipe dream in my world. LOL

    Have a great day!

  8. Hello,
I am stopping by from the UBP. I had a look around your blog and I love it! I read a bit about your journey with breast cancer. Over the last year our family has been touched 3 times by cancer, thyroid for myself, breast and blood for my mom. There is something truely awful about having a young family and dealing with cancer. I signed up for your emails. Enjoy the rest of the party!

  9. Hi Ginny! I landed on your blog from another blog that I landed on from Mama Kat's Writer's Workshop! I just read your breast cancer story and I had to say hello to you. My mom was diagnosed in December and she is going through Chemo now. I think reading your story helped me to understand a bit better! The Poisonous Cure link didn't work though, and I"d love to read that part. Thank you for putting your story out there!!

  10. Hi from Wigglebug Photography! http://www.wigglebugphotography.com I will be thinking of you this Saturday. I am going to a fundraiser for my friend Tina who is raising money for her Avon Breast Cancer Walk. A sitting with Wigglebug is one of the prizes she is raffling off 🙂 Good Luck on your 100 posts.

  11. I'd love to help you make your goal of 100 comments, us bloggers love our comments, don't we?!
Great post and I love your blog – so happy to have "met" you – thanks for stopping by my blog today.

Cool that you've been a SAHM for 7 years too after teaching – ok, here's the question everyone asks and I"m going to ask too – do you think you'll go back? I don't think I will be, but who knows….time will tell!

    1. Thanks! I love comments, but I don't think I've ever gotten more than 30…so I'm on a roll! 100 here I come!

I think I will go back to teaching eventually…I teach preschool two days a week. But right now, none of the schools are hiring…it's really hard to get back into the classroom. I do get asked that question a lot in real life!!

  14. OK now I want Lemon drop pie. How awesome that you are a survivor. Cancer is a horrible disease that takes far too many lives. Nice to see it doesn't always win. Your babies are beautiful. Coming by from UBP and here is hoping you get your 100 comments

  15. You had me with the name, "Lemon Drop Pie"! I love lemon pie, but had never heard of this one. I can so relate with your description of your blog…same here! Your girls are cutie pies! Looking forward to browsing your blog. And, with comment 58, you are one step closer to your goal! 🙂

  16. Hello there Ginny! Congrats on you being cancer free for 16 years! Your daughters are so pretty! And I love the colors on your blog, amazed the yellow don't stain quite too bad on my eyes, lol. Coming over from UBP12.

  17. Well the UBP is the one place where you can easily get 100 comments. I think I've done it, as a matter of fact. I always promise to revisit everyone who leaves a comment during the party. One year it took me about 6 months. I did it though!!!

  18. I got so caught up talking about your comments I forgot about your little writing "prompt". I'm a regular reader, so I guess I should tell you something new about myself. Hmmm. I've only colored my hair once in my life, the summer after graduating high school. I actually went to the drugstore and picked out the same exact color that my hair already was…which my sister, the beauty school student, thought was weird. But it took my natural color and really enhanced the natural red in it and it looked great. I never did it again, though. And that was a new, weird, and boring fact about me. Tell your friends 😉

  19. Hi Ginny Marie, here's a drop from me, I love cross stich but haven't found any interesting motives for a while now… Time wouldn't be a problem;)
