The Next American Idol

I love to sing. I sing every day, to my girls, to my preschoolers, in my choir; but I’d make a terrible contestant on American Idol. For one thing, I get stage fright. For another thing, I don’t have the necessary talent. Oh, and I have trouble accepting criticism. Yup.

But I just couldn’t resist Mama Kat’s vlogging prompt to make an American Idol audition video.

  1. You know what's weird? I was totally singing Pour Some Sugar on Me today. Love your signature song!

  2. {Melinda} Love it. Very cute. My kids tell me all the time how horribly I sing so I've decided to stick to my day job … writing. :) No vocal abilities required!

I think I’ll stick to preschool songs, lullabies and heavy metal :)

  4. YOUR GOING TO HOLLYWOOD, DAWG!!!! They would surely set aside any age restrictions if they heard you.
(If you get the chance, I'd definitely go for your signature tune!!)

This is the first time hearing sticky bubble gum. There are some definite possibilities here!!! BTW you are not too old to audition!

Your vlog was great! I can't carry a tune and only sing in my car by myself. I won't even sing in front of my husband! If I had to choose though, I think it would be something from the late 70s-early 80s.

Alas, I am too old for Idol as well. Like you, I'd never be able to pick a song either. I've sung on stage, but auditions are the worst! Can't imagine auditioning in front of cameras!

I'm the worst singer ever! I never sing in front of anyone except for my kids. For some reason they don't seem to mind.

  9. I have to say, I LOVE your preschool teacher song. That is awesome.

    Also, your microphone… that's bit scary. ;-)
